Prospecting and sequences

Target accounts

Organize accounts or contacts in target lists, compare their scores and signals, and find the next record to work on.

Available on Pro, Growth and Enterprise

A target list is an account or contact list marked as one you’re prospecting. Target lists appear under Demand in the sidebar, and their table shows scores and signals, sorted with the highest score first. Account target lists also show Status and contacts.

Target lists are on Pro, Growth and Enterprise. Everyone in the workspace, Viewers included, sees target lists under Demand. Owners, admins and members can make and change them.

Every plan has ordinary lists. On Starter, Make target list doesn’t appear; use an ordinary list until an admin changes the plan in Settings → Billing, or you contact Lightfield.

Earlier plans can differ. Check your workspace’s available features.

Only account and contact lists can become target lists. Lists of opportunities or custom object records can’t.

  1. Open the list, or hover over it under Lists in the sidebar.
  2. Open its options menu (List options on the list’s page) and choose Make target list.

The list moves from Lists to Demand in the sidebar, marked with a target icon. If you’ve added it to your favorites, it shows under Favorites instead.

You can also ask the agent in chat, for example “Create a target list of accounts called Fintech Q3.” If your plan doesn’t include target lists, the agent creates an ordinary list and tells you.

A target list of accounts starts with these columns: the account, Score, Status, Contacts and Signals. A target list of contacts starts with the contact, Score, Signals and their account. You can change the columns and filters like any table; the target fields are grouped under Target properties in the display settings.

  • Score: a 0 to 100 priority score that combines fit with your ideal customer profile, timing signals and strategic factors. Higher means a higher outbound priority.
  • Score rationale: a short, plain explanation of why the record scored as it did.
  • Signals: tags for the evidence behind the score, such as Fresh Raise (raised funding in the last 90 days).
  • Status (accounts only): where the account stands with you: New, In progress, Active opportunity, Customer, Churned, Nurture or Unqualified. The agent fills it from your CRM activity.

These are fields on the account or contact itself, not on the list. An account shows the same score on every target list it’s in.

The Score column shows the number with one to five bars. Hover over it to see the score’s tier and its rationale.

Making a target list organizes records; it does not by itself find new prospects or score them. People search covers structured prospect search, which is on Growth and Enterprise. You can still organize existing CRM records in target lists on the plans listed above.

Scores, signals and statuses come from Lightfield’s outbound prospecting in chat. For example, find target accounts builds a target list of companies that match your ideal customer profile, and score the target account list scores it. If scoring needs an automation that has not been set up, an owner or admin sets it up with the agent; see Automations.

When a scored account is on a target list, its page shows a Target account card with its score, the rationale, its Signals and its Contacts. Click the card’s header to collapse or expand it.

Hover over a contact in the card to:

  • Open in chat: ask the agent about that contact and whether, and how, to reach out.
  • Add to sequence: open chat to enroll the contact in a sequence. This needs a plan with sequences.

Hover over the target list under Demand, open its menu, and choose:

  • Rename to change its name.
  • Revert to list to turn it back into an ordinary list. It moves back under Lists, with the same records.
  • Delete target list to delete it. A deleted list waits in Deleted items, where you can restore it or delete it permanently.

The same options are under List options on the list’s page.

Check the list type, your role and your workspace’s available features. Viewers can see target lists but cannot make or change them. Opportunity and custom object lists can’t become target lists. On Starter, an admin can change the plan in Settings → Billing.

The records haven’t been scored yet. Ask the agent to score the list, for example “Score the Fintech Q3 target list.” If the agent says the scoring automation isn’t set up, ask an owner or admin to set it up with the agent first.

An account doesn’t show the Target account card

Section titled “An account doesn’t show the Target account card”

The card appears only when the account has a Score and is on at least one target list. Add it to a target list, or have the agent score it.

What’s the difference between a list and a target list? A target list is a list of accounts or contacts that shows score, status and signal columns, sorts by score, and sits under Demand in the sidebar. Its records are added and removed the same way.

Can the same account score differently on two target lists? No. The score belongs to the account, so it’s the same on every list.

Why is there a target list called Target accounts that I didn’t create? Lightfield creates it when it sets up target lists for your workspace. It holds the accounts that had a Score at that time.

Does reverting a target list remove its records? No. Revert to list keeps every record and moves the list back under Lists.
