What the agent can do
Ask Lightfield's agent about your customers, have it update records, draft emails and analyze data, and see what it can access.
Lightfield’s agent is built into your CRM. It answers questions about your accounts, contacts, opportunities, emails, meetings and notes, and it acts for you: it updates records, drafts emails, creates tasks and builds reports. You talk to it in plain language, in chat.
Who can use it
Section titled “Who can use it”The agent is on every plan.
- Viewers can ask the agent questions but can’t have it change records.
- Admins can also have it change workspace-wide things, such as fields, objects, pipelines, automations and dashboards.
- Premium models are on Pro, Growth and Enterprise. See Premium models.
- People search is on Growth and Enterprise. See People search.
Earlier plans can differ. Check your workspace’s available features.
Start a chat
Section titled “Start a chat”- New chat: click New chat under Chats in the left sidebar for questions about your whole workspace.
- From a record, list or dashboard: open chat while you’re looking at something, and the agent takes it as context. On an account page, “What happened in our last meeting?” is about that account.
Use a new chat for questions across your pipeline, and ask from the record for questions about one deal. The agent remembers the conversation within a chat: after “What’s going on with Northwind Robotics?”, it knows “What should my next step be?” is about the same account.
Find and flag your chats
Section titled “Find and flag your chats”Your past chats are listed under Chats in the left sidebar. A dot next to a chat means it’s unread. A spinner means the agent is still working in it.
To flag a chat so you come back to it:
- Hover the chat under Chats and click Chat actions. Or open the chat and use the menu at the left of the chat header.
- Click Mark as unread.
The chat shows the unread dot until you open it again. In the sidebar, Mark as unread appears only on chats you’ve already read, and only on your own chats. The same menu has Rename and Delete chat.
What you can ask it to do
Section titled “What you can ask it to do”Answer questions about your customers
Section titled “Answer questions about your customers”The agent searches your records and the emails, meetings, transcripts and notes on them.
- “Which deals haven’t had any activity in the last 30 days?”
- “What did we talk about in my last call with Bailey from Northwind Robotics?”
- “Find every opportunity where the competitor is Salesforce.”
It can also look things up in apps you’ve connected in Settings → Connectors, such as Notion or Linear. See Connectors.
Research companies and people on the web
Section titled “Research companies and people on the web”On every plan, the agent can search the web and read pages to research a company, a person or a market. For a deeper question, it runs a multi-step research task and brings back the findings.
- “Research Northwind Robotics: what they sell, who they sell to and any recent funding.”
- “Who are the competitors of Acme Analytics?”
To find new people by title or seniority, see People search.
Create and update records
Section titled “Create and update records”- “Create an opportunity for the new Acme deal in the Qualification stage.”
- “Move the Globex deal to Closed Lost, close reason: timing.”
- “Set the number of seats on the Acme Analytics opportunity to 15.”
The agent creates accounts, contacts and opportunities, updates fields on records (including custom objects), adds records to lists, and fills new fields in from past emails and meetings. It can also merge duplicate records and delete records. You confirm each merge or deletion in chat before it goes through.
Draft emails, tasks and notes
Section titled “Draft emails, tasks and notes”- “Draft a follow-up email to Bailey summarizing what we discussed.”
- “Create a task for me to send the proposal by Friday.”
Email drafts wait for you to review them before anything is sent. The agent can also check your calendar availability when you’re setting up a meeting.
Analyze data and work with files
Section titled “Analyze data and work with files”- “Which opportunity stages take longest to close, on average?”
- “Compare new opportunities this month with last month, by owner.”
The agent analyzes your CRM data and returns a table, chart or downloadable file. It reads supported attachments and creates documents, spreadsheets and presentations. See Files and attachments for the difference between uploading, reading and sending a file. For reports that stay live, see Dashboards.
Add meeting transcripts
Section titled “Add meeting transcripts”Paste or attach a transcript and ask the agent to add it to a meeting. See Transcripts.
Build automations, sequences and dashboards
Section titled “Build automations, sequences and dashboards”Describe a process and the agent builds it: automations that run on a schedule or trigger, sequences for multi-step outreach, and dashboards of live reports. Automations, email sequences and dashboards are on Pro, Growth and Enterprise. LinkedIn sequence steps are on Growth and Enterprise. Only owners and admins can build automations and dashboards.
Change the data model (admins)
Section titled “Change the data model (admins)”Owners and admins can ask the agent to create fields, custom objects, relationships and pipelines on every plan. Formula fields require Enterprise. The agent shows you the change before it is applied.
Follow your team’s playbooks
Section titled “Follow your team’s playbooks”Skills are saved instructions that teach the agent how to do a task your way. See Skills. For background about your company, use Knowledge.
What the agent can see
Section titled “What the agent can see”The agent works with your access. It sees what you can see in Lightfield, and nothing more:
- your workspace’s records, and the emails, meetings, transcripts, notes and tasks you have access to
- your workspace’s knowledge and your own Personal knowledge
- your skills
- apps you’ve connected in Settings → Connectors
It cannot see other workspaces, or emails and meetings that Lightfield never synced, such as those involving addresses and domains on your Do not track list. See Privacy and access to distinguish record access from private activity.
Control what the agent changes
Section titled “Control what the agent changes”By default, the agent asks before it creates or updates records, and waits for you to approve in chat. To let routine updates run without asking, change Agent permissions in Settings → Agent. See Agent settings.
You can also choose which of your LinkedIn conversations appear in the CRM. Review the proposed selections and click Apply to save them.
Get better answers
Section titled “Get better answers”- Be specific. Instead of “Tell me about Acme”, ask “Summarize the Acme opportunity: stage, last touchpoint, open blockers and a recommended next step.”
- Give a timeframe. “Show me deals created in the last 14 days.”
- Ask for action, not just data. “Find the deals at risk and draft a follow-up email for each.”
- Chain steps. “Look at the Acme opportunity, summarize where we stand, and draft a follow-up to my last point of contact.”
- Say what format you want. “Make a table with columns for account, stage, next step and close date.”
- Teach it once. If you keep explaining the same process, save it as a skill.
If the agent gets something wrong, see Troubleshooting the agent. To pick the model it runs on, see Choose a model.
Common questions
Section titled “Common questions”Can the agent change records without asking me? Only if you choose it. The default is to ask every time; change it in Settings → Agent. Viewers can’t have the agent change records at all.
Can the agent see emails and meetings that I can’t? No. It sees what you can see, so private emails and meetings you aren’t part of stay out of your chats.
Can I mark a chat as unread? Yes. Hover the chat under Chats, click Chat actions, then click Mark as unread. Only your own chats have the option.
Can the agent find new leads on every plan? Partly. Every plan can research companies and people on the web. Structured People search by title and seniority needs Growth or Enterprise. See People search.
