Sending limits

See how many emails and LinkedIn messages each sender can send a day, set a lower cap for one sequence, and choose its send window.

Available on Pro, Growth and Enterprise

Lightfield caps how much each sender sends a day, spaces out the sends, and sends only inside each sequence’s send window. These limits protect your company’s email domain and LinkedIn accounts, which providers judge by everything they send, not by one sequence.

Everyone who can open Settings → Sequences can change the workspace limits: owners, admins and members on a plan with sequences. LinkedIn limits apply only on plans with LinkedIn steps.

Every workspace starts with these limits. They apply to each sender across all sequences. You can raise a limit up to its ceiling, but never past it.

ChannelDefault per dayCeiling per dayDefault gap between sends
Connected email account20503 to 8 min
Warmed mailbox (each)201003 to 8 min
LinkedIn invites10305 to 10 min
LinkedIn DMs20605 to 10 min

Between sends, Lightfield waits a random gap within the range. This spreads sends out instead of sending the daily allowance at once.

Why each default is what it is:

  • Connected email: 20. That’s your real work address on your real domain, and it can’t be replaced. Twenty a day is close to what a person sends by hand.
  • Warmed mailboxes: 20 each. The limit is per mailbox, so five mailboxes at the default send 100 a day. To send more, add mailboxes rather than raising one (see Settings → Sequences for adding them).
  • LinkedIn invites: 10. LinkedIn meters invitations over a rolling week, and your real allowance can be lower for new accounts, accounts with few connections, or accounts with poor acceptance rates. Start at the default and lower it if LinkedIn restricts your account.
  • LinkedIn DMs: 20. A message to someone who already accepted you is far lower risk than an invite to a stranger.

For almost everyone, no. The defaults are the recommendation, not a starting point. A mailbox that has run clean for months with bounces under 1% can go up gradually while you watch its numbers. If you have 2,000 people to reach this week, add mailboxes or cut the list instead.

  1. Go to Settings → Sequences and find Sending limits.
  2. Under Email, Warmed mailboxes or LinkedIn, change Emails per day, Invites per day or DMs per day, or the gap between sends in minutes.

A number above the ceiling shows an error such as Capped at 50/day to protect deliverability., and nothing saves until you correct it.

Give one sequence its own lower daily cap when it should go slower than the rest. The cap counts every sender on the sequence together.

  1. Open the sequence and click Daily limits. It shows Workspace limits when the sequence has no cap of its own.
  2. Enter Emails per day, Invites per day or DMs per day, and optionally a Gap between sends. Leave a count blank for No limit on this sequence; workspace limits still apply.
  3. Publish the change.

You can also ask the agent, for example “Cap the Q3 renewals sequence at 15 emails a day.” Manage workspace limits takes you to Settings → Sequences.

Sequences send between 9 and 5 on weekdays in your time zone by default. Sends that fall outside the window wait until it opens.

  1. Open the sequence and click Send window.
  2. Set From, To and Timezone, and choose the Allowed days.
  3. Publish the change.

Windows that run overnight, such as 10 PM to 6 AM, aren’t supported. Changing the window moves scheduled sends; messages already queued or waiting for review keep their timing.

Turn on the Priority switch on a sequence’s page to Send this sequence’s messages ahead of any other queued sends given your send limits. It doesn’t raise any limit or bypass the window.

How many emails can a sequence send per day? Up to each sender’s daily limit: 20 a day from a connected account and 20 from each warmed mailbox by default. A sequence can also have its own lower cap across all its senders.

Should I raise my sending limits? Usually no. To send more email, add warmed mailboxes rather than raising one mailbox’s limit.

What hours do sequences send? 9 to 5 on weekdays in your time zone, unless you change the sequence’s Send window.

How do I slow down one sequence? Click Daily limits on the sequence’s page and enter a lower daily count, then publish. The cap counts all of that sequence’s senders together.
