Choose a model

Pick which model Lightfield's agent runs on in chat, or leave it on Auto and let Lightfield choose for you.

By default, Lightfield’s agent runs on Auto, where Lightfield picks the model for you. You can choose a specific model in chat instead.

Choosing a model works on every plan, for every role. Some models need a plan that includes premium models; see Premium models.

Leave the model on Auto unless you want a specific model for a task. With Auto, Lightfield chooses the model, so you don’t have to keep track of which one to use.

  1. In chat, click the options button at the bottom left of the message box, next to the chat history button.
  2. Choose Models.
  3. Click the model you want. Each one shows a short description under its name.

A checkmark shows next to the model you picked. To review consumption after a task, see Usage.

The list shows the models available to your workspace. A greyed-out model at the bottom of the list needs a plan that includes premium models. See Premium models.

Can I choose which model the agent uses? Yes. Click the options button at the bottom left of the message box and choose Models.

What does Auto mean? Lightfield picks the model for you. It’s the default, and the right choice for most requests.

Why is a model greyed out? Read the message under the model. Unavailable for Starter plan means your plan does not include that premium model. Keep using Auto or another available model. See Premium models.
