Usage
See your workspace's record count and credit balance in Settings → Usage, find what's using credits, and set usage alerts.
Workspace credits pay for the work Lightfield’s agents do for you. Settings → Usage shows your record count against your plan’s limit, your credit balance, each member’s chat usage, and what’s using credits.
Who can use it
Section titled “Who can use it”Only owners and admins can open Settings → Usage. If you don’t see the Usage tab as an owner or admin, it isn’t turned on for your workspace yet; email support@lightfield.app.
To change your plan, on-demand usage or spend limit, see Billing.
What uses credits
Section titled “What uses credits”Pro, Growth and Enterprise include a credit allowance; Starter doesn’t include one, because it doesn’t include the features that use most credits.
| Action | Charged | What drives the cost |
|---|---|---|
| Automations | Per run | Complex runs cost more than simple ones |
| Workflows | Per run | Complex runs cost more than simple ones |
| Sequences | Per run | Complex runs cost more than simple ones |
| Advanced enrichment | Per record | Higher-cost data, such as phone numbers, costs more |
What doesn’t use credits: everything you do yourself, including automatic record updates from email, meetings and Slack, adding records by hand, building your data model, managing tasks, lists and fields, and viewing dashboards and reports. Creating dashboards or running reports through chat does use credits.
Chat is included for every user, with a capture seat or a Viewer seat. Each plan includes a monthly chat allowance per user, and heavy use beyond it draws on workspace credits. Premium models in the chat’s model menu need a plan with premium chat models (see Choose a model). Pro users get twice the monthly chat usage of Starter users, and Growth users get four times.
Included credits are annual, and unused credits don’t carry over at the end of the year.
See where your credits go
Section titled “See where your credits go”Open Settings → Usage. It has three sections:
- Record usage: how many records you have against your plan’s limit, broken down by object. It appears only when your plan has a record limit.
- Workspace credits (On-demand workspace credits on Starter): credits used against your included balance or limit.
- Monthly chat usage: each member’s chat usage this month and when it resets.
To dig into credits:
- Under Workspace credits, click See more. Workspace credit usage opens.
- Pick a Date range, such as Contract to date or Last 7 days.
- Switch between Trend, Activity usage and Model usage.
Activity usage splits credits by source, such as Automations and workflows, Sequences or Enrichments, so you can see which one is growing. Start there when credits run down faster than you expect.
Set a usage alert
Section titled “Set a usage alert”On plans with included credits, Usage alerts notify owners and admins when credits run down to a threshold you set.
- Open Workspace credit usage (click See more under Workspace credits).
- Under Usage alerts, click New alert.
- Enter a Usage alert threshold as a percentage of your balance, such as 50, and click Save.
The alert appears in the list. Choose how alerts are delivered in Notifications.
Common questions
Section titled “Common questions”What uses workspace credits? Automation, workflow and sequence runs, advanced enrichment, and chat beyond each member’s monthly allowance. Everything you do yourself, such as editing records or viewing dashboards, is free.

Do unused credits roll over? No. Included credits are annual, and unused credits don’t carry over at the end of the year.
How do I stop spending past our included credits? Set an on-demand spend limit, or turn off on-demand usage, in Billing.
